Security

Personal information, transactions, and sensitive business files are all stored on property management systems, so ensuring that your PMS provider prioritizes security is paramount.

With a cloud-based PMS, no sensitive data is stored on-premise or on your computer equipment but in a data center protected by advanced security systems. The best PMS providers are highly diligent about safety and security. Their software works with well-secured servers that are monitored full-time by a team of IT professionals; apart from protecting data physically, they also focus on developing security measures that prevent breaches.

To evaluate the security of a particular PMS solution, consider the following factors.

Does the provider offer an above-average safety protocol that includes encryptions? What is their platform uptime, and how do they warrant service with no disruptions?

Furthermore, find out how a PMS handles credit card and personal information and whether it supports two-factor authentication and tokenization for payment processing.

Ask potential vendors for their security certification and review it carefully. As a rule of thumb, cloud-based data centers should meet certain standards, such as PCI (Payment card industry) compliance, EMV (Europay, Mastercard and Visa) certification, COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology) safety framework, and others.
